Community Coach

$16.00 per hour and GREAT benefits.

Summary: Under the direction of the Outcomes Manager & the Outcomes Coordinator, the Community Coach supports adults with intellectual and developmental [dis]abilities in both natural and community settings on a daily basis in activities designed to promote vocational, social, physical and intellectual growth. The Community Coach also assists each program participant in skill development geared towards preparing them for community integrated employment. Community Coaches are responsible for soliciting, following up and securing job and volunteer leads for individuals and/or group placements, for analyzing data and implementing appropriate curriculum on a case-by-case basis and for providing job site/volunteer site training and intervention for Anthesis’ I.E.C.B.S. program participants. The ideal Community Coach will have an organized and patient demeanor and be able to effectively communicate, plan and manage time as they will be responsible, together with the Outcomes Manager, for coordinating daily, weekly and monthly activities and work schedules for their assigned participants. This position will require an individual with a general understanding of how to appropriately handle confidential information as they may have access to private information regarding I.E.C.B.S. participants. The Community Coach will be highly skilled in the areas of communication (written and oral), case analysis, and data management in order to accurately and effectively plan, measure and meet the needs of the program participants.

Qualifications/Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; Associate of Arts Degree in a social science or related field preferred but not required. Sufficient experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is required for carrying out the major responsibilities of this position; however, any combination of education and/or job-related experience will be considered.

Important note: Interested candidates must have a valid/current CA DL, current vehicle insurance and registration, three (3) years of driving experience with an insurable driving record and a reliable vehicle that can carry a minimum of 4 passengers. When personal vehicle is used for the transportation of program participants, mileage will be reimbursed at current IRS rate.

Physical and other requirements include: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

  • Regularly required to walk, sit, and talk and hear; regularly lift and/or move and/or push/pull consumers up to 25 lbs.
  • Required to occasionally lift and/or move and/or push/pull consumers up 50 lbs;
  • Frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands/arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Required to have visual acuity in the areas of close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Required to withstand exposure to outside weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, sun, humidity, etc.
