Why Change our Name to Anthesis?

Because the regulatory and advocacy environment had changed so much in the last 50 years, we realized our name no longer represented the goals and mission of our organization. Pomona Valley Workshop told the story of our history. But what we needed was a name that could tell our story moving forward.

We chose the name Anthesis, because it perfectly captures our mission: to support independent and inclusive lives for adults with [dis]abilities through employment and community integration.

We help adults with disabilities develop the skills and confidence to blossom, and we empower them to bloom into contributing members of the community.

The Future of Anthesis

Among other changes moving forward as Anthesis, we added a new transition program called Integrated Employment and Community Based Support (IECBS) along with a discovery program to identify goals for  individuals based on their desires, skills and abilities. These programs have been developed to teach individuals job readiness skills on a more individualized basis.  The goal of each program is to hasten the process of placing individuals in competitive integrated employment situations. It also serves to expose them to more community integration opportunities.

Although we leave behind a rich legacy as PVW, Anthesis will grow and expand its rich heritage.  With opportunities to work with our clients, and with the goal of greater community integration for everyone, Anthesis will continue to lead the way in providing services to the I/DD population for the next 50 years.

Stay tuned, we are still writing our history!
