Q&A with Robert C.

Recently, we had the pleasure of having a chat with Robert C.— a long-time Anthesis colleague and a member of our Supported Employment Program. We wanted to learn more about Robert, his collaboration with Anthesis and his goals for the future. He is one of the dozens and dozens of Anthesis participants and we look forward to sharing more first-hand accounts in the coming months.

Without further ado, here’s our convo with Robert:

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to chat today. Can you tell us about your current job?

I work at the City Hall in Chino Hills. I help clean. The bathrooms, the elevators, the gyms. I work with Gina, Luis, and Lupe (the job coach). I love cleaning the bathrooms the most.

What’s your dream job?

Working somewhere in Vegas!

What’s your favorite thing about being part of Anthesis?

I like spending time with the staff, the other participants. I like Terri (Director of Employment Programs), Edwin (Case Manager), and Lucy (Director of Day Programs). And I love the Anthesis picnics and dances.

I heard you like to dance. What kind of music do you like?

I love dancing! My favorite music is country. But I like dancing to everything.

Okay, it’s time for some rapid-fire questions. Are you ready?

Yes.

When is your birthday?

November!

How old are you going to be?

55!

On your birthday, what do you want for dessert?

Carrot cake and cheesecake!

Nice. Solid choices. Okay, what’s your favorite food?

Hamburger, steak and ribs.

What are your favorite restaurants?

Red Robin, Burger King and Subway

I love Red Robin. Yum. Their Bottomless Fries are the best. They keep bringing fries until you explode. It’s great. Anyway, what’s your favorite TV show?

Hell’s Kitchen! It’s a good show.

What’s your favorite movie?

Spider-Man and Men in Black

What are your favorite hobbies?

Dancing, bowling, and hanging out with my girlfriend, Ramona.

What’s your dream vacation?

To go to Vegas. To win money in Vegas. And to see an Elvis show.

That sounds great to me. What are your goals for the future?

I want to get married and move to Vegas.

Robert, can you believe I’ve never been to Vegas? Like ever. But you’re really convincing me that I’m missing out. After this interview, I may be asking you for ideas on where to go while there. Is that okay?

Yes. You should go to Vegas. It’s the best.

One last question, if you could tell our readers one thing about Anthesis, what would you want them to know?

I like to work for Anthesis because I like the staff and have lots of opportunities to do things that I like for my job.

Well, this has been fun. Thanks for chatting with me today, Robert.

No problem. You really should go to Vegas sometime. They have everything you could want there.

You know, Robert, I definitely think you have a future at the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.
